Tips & Tricks For Enjoying Cabo

Cabo is Mexico's top traveled destination. People from all over the world come to visit this piece of paradise where the cacti desert meets the turquoise ocean. Whether they are getting hitched, enjoying their honeymoon or just on vacation knowing these little tips and tricks will give you a taste of what to expect.

Tipping while traveling can be tricky! A general rule of thumb - tipping 10% to your server while dinning out yet, the American custom of tipping 15 to 20% is practiced in the bigger resorts.

Beaches in Cabo San Lucas and surrounding areas are family-friendly and fun for snorkeling amongst coral reefs.  You’ll find at the popular beach restaurants is where you can sit under a palapa, enjoy drinking a margarita or cold cerveza, and wiggle your toes in the sand.

The best temperature is from mid-October to the end of May.  It’s like Southern California with very little humidity.  The average temperature is about 75 degrees.  August and September are considered the rainy season so bring an umbrella.  The summer season is hot and humid.  But, the ocean temperature is the best…in the 80’s and perfect for swimming/paddle boarding, and snorkeling.

The easiest way to rent a car in Cabo San Lucas is to go online and choose a carrier you prefer.  You get a cheaper rate online versus waiting until you get down here.  All agencies provide efficient and newer cars.  It’s just like the US!

As for gas stations, all offer full service.  However, it's smart to get out of the car and tell them how much you want to put in your tank. If you can't say it in Spanish show them your bill, and be sure to count your change.

If you get sick or injured there are plenty of healthcare facilities to choose from as well as state of the art hospitals. It's beat to use your best judgment and while choosing an institute and be sure to keep asking what every single procedure will cost. There are a ton of Pharmacies stocked with the basics!

Locals in Cabo San Lucas and the surrounding towns are known for their warmth and hospitality.  Their goal is to make your stay the best experience with lots of happy memories.  Hopefully, you’ll decide to come back and visit often. Mexico is known for lots of vibrant color and happy people.

5 Things To Look For When Choosing Your Destination Wedding Plannner

How can you best pick the right Wedding Planner to

entrust one of the most important days of your life?

Decisions... Decisions... Decisions....

  • So you know you want to have a destination wedding
  • You picked out the perfect destination for your dream wedding
  • You now start to Google to find your wedding planner
  • Now what???

Here’s a few tips:

1. Ask your potential wedding planner for references

A good credible wedding planner should be able to provide you with reference from past couples or even venues in their area that know their work. Ask your wedding planner if they are certified or have a license in the industry. Choosing the right wedding planner is by far the one of the most decisions a couple will have to make.

"Here at Sunset Weddings we are happy to provide all of our couples with references. We are the pioneers of wedding planning. Everyone in Cabo knows us! So we love to toot our horn and gloat about what we do best, WEDDINGS!"

2. Be sure to choose an agency that has a team of two or more planners

There are many Wedding Planner agencies that are composed of 1 staff member. Their websites may be fancy with many nice pictures, but, behind the scenes, it all comes down to only one person. This can be a dangerous gamble!!!  Wedding Planning involves an incredible amount of time with vendors and clients. One person can easily get swamped, especially in high season. Most importantly, should anything happen to that person in the days leading up or, on your actual Wedding Day, there is no substitute.

"Our staff at Sunset Weddings consists of three head planner and two assistants who can offer assist at any time. We are all up to date on all weddings as a team effort and any Wedding Planner can jump in to take the helm at any time. Remember to inquire how many people shall be planning and attending your wedding."

3. Always choose an agency that includes a bilingual staff

It is crucial in a foreign country that someone on the agency staff is bilingual. There is nothing more stressful or uncomfortable than having to communicate to someone whose English is not up to par. You will come across some agencies where all staff members are foreigners not proficient in the local language so remember to ask if some team members are bilingual. Needless to say, suppliers, on such detailed matters as a wedding, need to have detailed information in their native language.
"At Sunset Weddings all of our staff members are 100% bilingual in both English and Spanish!"

4. Get to know your planner

It is so important to get a feel for the person when evaluating your Wedding Planner. Remember, you are going to be having contact with them for a period of up to a year. A phone call, or even Skype conversation can give you an initial feel for personality, and this will better help you in making your decision.
"We offer all forms of communication, including Skype. We are ready to personally meet you!"

5. Take advantage of your consultation

Most professional agencies will offer you a free consultation  Take advantage of your wedding planners time. Pick their brain! Have a list of questions to ask before calling. A good wedding planner will offer you all you need to know and more. Be sure to ask them why you should choose them?

"We love speaking to our clients! Call us any time, day or night we are here for you."
